The Life Of An Entrepreneur |
|
A kids' picture book that uses various interactive formats to introduce and enforce the concepts integral to Entrepreneurship. The rationale for this book is elaborated on in the text but stated briefly- in my own country of Trinidad both my Wife and myself were disturbed and encouraged simultaneously by the regular news concerning our nation's youth. Many times there were stories of great achievements followed by rising unruly behavior in the schools. She as a primary school teacher and I as a Business and Psychology Graduate tried to interpret the often contradicting experiences we had with kids. We came to the conclusion that both adults and the school systems were failing the kids by just focusing on typical subjects' content and ignoring learning of application to real life. This book and others to follow will serve as a bridge to allow our children to become probable Entrepreneurs in their present and future so their society can reap the benefits. The end result will hopefully be the advancing of the Caribbean region from its developing country status to world leader in terms of entrepreneurial development of its resources including its children. “The Life of an Entrepreneur” took over two years to complete but that was simply the content. We are proud of the valuable information it contains. We also knew the book’s quality in terms of the paper, binding, the glossy of the cards and stickers and other physical attributes would make it standout in the mind of potential buyers. Our main problem though was one that many Entrepreneurs face, that is Capital. I could take a loan through different means and print a number of the books and hope they sold relatively quickly. Since we also have to spend a significant sum of money on advertising and promotion this seemed to be a risky maneuver. My other option was to make use of the services of a Print-on-Demand (P.O.D) Publisher to keep my cost down. P.O.Ds take orders for a book and prints it in essentially real time. This eliminates heavy startup production costs for authors like 3C-INC. We have chosen www.LULU.com as our P.O.D. Another problem arose by going this route though; www.LULU.com like other P.O.Ds don’t do printing of cards or stickers at least not yet. LULU does permit custom made calendars and we are using this service to create different calendars based on information in the main book. They also allow ebook and CDs containing the same information with which you can print sections for easy use. Additionally for those of you who have no problem using the book in its purest form without the removable cards and stickers, we appreciate the support and promise that your contributions will go towards the introduction of a version with these missing parts and more. 3C-INC has more plans for further books that will highlight and go into detail concerning the themes touched on in this our introductory book. Other plans include games in a card and computer versions along with an activities’ newsletter and lesson strategies. Please feel free to check this space for updates and thanks for your patronage and support. Eiki Charles of 3C-INC.
