Bookstore Appearances By Kids™ |
|
This program is being created to provide kids with the opportunity of filling in for an author at a bookstore. Kids will explain our book, The Kids' Guide To Business, and show it to other kids. Kids will be provided with information to conduct a seminar on the book and provide in store promotional materials. |
Role: To act as an "authors assistant " for a day, and explain and talk about "The Kids' Guide to Business". You will set-up a display table at a bookstore. (Feel free to let your customers look at the book, read the back and flip through the pages) Tell people how you think the book helps kid learn about business. Provide kids with information on the bookstore promotion with the purchase of the book.
Questions that might be asked and your answers: What's the book about? Well, as you know you don't want to ramble on and on about every single aspect in the book, so to make your "customers" interested, make it short, to the point and fun. Explain the main details and interesting parts in the book. Make sure you touch on the main purpose of the book which is preparing and launching kids into business!
Explain that the book is for kids, around the ages 8-14. The book uses examples kids can relate to. Each age group will get something different out of the book. It is simple but it can also be very advanced, depending on how you want to use it. It is not really about age but rather how interested and able you are.
Did you enjoy the book? For this question you can say anything you want. Tell them the parts you particularly liked, and if you did try to start your own business, if it worked and how the book helped you get interested and started in business.
Why should I buy this book? If you think you will work in a business some day, it will help you start to think about what you are interested in doing, what you may be good at doing and help you practice to get ready for business.
Brainstorm: If you were in a bookstore, snooping around, looking for books and you came across a kid sitting at a table with a pile of books on it, title "The Kids' Guide to Business", what would you say to him or her? What would you think to yourself? The questions you come up with may be the questions you will have to answer. Feel free to provide these questions in the form below to help us coach you on answers.
