Tips on writing a business plan.

A business plan template is a framework to help you write  a business plan. A good template should show you the areas that you need to cover in the plan and provide you with questions that should be answered throughout the plan.

We are exposing you to business planning to help you understand the many things that have to be considered when developing and managing a business.  As you experience your own business start-up you will also realize that things don't always go as planned in business. You will need to learn to adopt your plan for the many changing variables in business.

As you go through the business planning section, don't let planning stop you from moving ahead in learning about business. You will find it difficult at first ,but once you work with the frameworks, you will move through it rather quickly. Our goal is for you to get some business planning experience and not to turn you off of business, because of the planning that you have to do. Do what makes sense for you, but the more shortcuts you take,  will effect the success of your business.

www.teachingkidsbusiness.com/entrepreneurship-program-business-plan.htm   We have used a very detailed business plan from a Money Hunter website and have began to make it more kid-friendly. It is many pages long. We are working on a very short version!

www.sba.gov/starting/indexbusplans.html  This is a website link to the Small Business Association of the USA government.  It is an excellent resource for business planning and other business start-up considerations.

www.yahoo.com or www.google.com - search for "business plan templates" and you will find many choices. The government sites are a good source as the information is free.  There are  companies that sell software and consulting services for business planning.

Eventually, we would like to have a "business plan contest" to award kids for their efforts on writing a business plan. We will post the information in the future.
