Now that we have gone from idea, dreams and vision; we now turn to concept. It is my belief that concept is about communicating your ideas, dreams and vision in a way that people can understand what you are trying to do. Concept is taking what you have been thinking about and summarizing your thoughts in a framework for others to understand. The framework is really a business way of looking at things in a way that allows people to make decisions.
If you talk in terms of ideas to people, they will not always understand the potential of an idea or what to do with an idea. People do not always relate well to dreams either. If you sat down with a potential investor and said; " I had a dream last night that will make millions," you may spark some interest with them, but they will want more information. They need information that will allow them to make a decision on whether to invest money in your dreams. If the information is presented in a standard framework it will ensure that they get the necessary information.
The concept stage helped resolve many issues and further explored opportunities. The main issues were the handling of money by kids and by the marketplace and the privacy issues pertaining to kids. The biggest opportunity was to involve kids in the development and marketing of the marketplace.
The writing of the concept forced me through some tough questions to ensure that the concept passed the test, of "will it work and how." As I worked through the areas in the executive summary I;
After working through executive summary frameworks (how to), I was ready to present my concept in the form of an executive summary. Unfortunately, I can not share this document, at this stage, as kidse-marketplace.com is still in development. If I was to give out too much information to the wrong people, they would try and take my ideas and developed them. The concept of the kids' marketplace started to take shape with the help of the business planning framework of an executive summary and a business plan.
