Goals Of The Program Are ; |
TeachingKidsBusiness.com's goal is to engage and inspire kids around the world to develop life & business skills, explore career opportunities and career preparation at an early age. We would like to work with United Way to communicate to your affiliated youth agencies that this resource is available to them. There is no cost. |
How United Way Affiliates Can Get Started. |
The "Resource Center" is a good starting point with a number of interesting activities for kids to develop business skills. You may want to start with the Resume section with the goal of creating a starting point and then seeing how it develops as you work through the activities. Each activity can be enjoyed by young and old and revisited over time. There are fun activities like our Improv and Doodle or more serious activities like Recommendation Writing and much more. Our e-Mentoring Program For Kids is an excellent resource to explore career profiles. All the activities have a purpose, each child will develop skills and have the opportunity for self-discovery. The "Business Encounter" section is developing as a way to provide kids with experience. You could help introduce kids to responsibilities in our "Career Experience" section where we are creating opportunities to give kids real job-like experience. The "Caddie Program" is an excellent opportunity to gain actual job experience and career preparation. You could have kids caddie at a local golf course. There are other ways to gain experience in our Business Case Studies where you can act as a "business team" that interviews a local business. Your findings will be an amazing experience that we hope you will share on the website for other kids to benefit. In addition, we have created Just For Clicks Business Game that is intended to celebrate the efforts of developing business skills and learning about business. The game allows kids to go through a process of developing a business with a "kid's online digital information product". You can have a lot of fun and reward from acting as a business advisor and experiencing their first business venture. The "Community Involvement" section has been developed to facility support from our community and engage kids to work with their community. If you want to expose a child to philanthropic activities, then this would be a good area to explore. The essence of this section is to act as a team to develop a plan to engage people in helping kids prepare for their careers. There are many wonderful resources in our communities who would be happy to give a little of their time to help kids prepare for their careers. This is a great opportunity to involve kids! In addition, we are working on a "Kid's Community Service Program" to create some specific initiatives for school community service requirements.
